This is just a small sampling of some of the cats who required extra love and care.
Rocket was seen losing a fight with a raccoon. He stayed in quarantine until we knew all was safe. Cordelia had a broken leg and a bone sticking out. Infection was so far gone that the leg had to be amputated. Honda was seen thrown out of a car on the highway. He needed surgery on both eyes.
Maddox was 11 weeks old when found. She was covered in maggots, with burns on her body, and sores in her mouth. The burns were consistent with having fireworks set off on her. She was also very afraid of loud and sudden noises. She learned to trust us, even after she was tortured by humans.
Willow was abandoned in a taped-shut box in PetSmart. Thankfully, an employee found her. She was malnourished, dehydrated and matted in feces. Nova was hit by a car. We eventually found her owners who refused to turn her into an indoor cat (after she almost DIED) and did not care to help with her vet bills. She was turned over to us. In 2018, we took in over a dozen cats from a hoarding/foreclosure situation – this is not the first time we took over the care of cats in such conditions. One of the cats was pregnant and most needed major socializing
Especially during kitten season, we are constantly treating cats for upper respiratory infections and ring worm. Below is just one example of a kitten having a cold at an early age and progressively getting better under our care.
